Intelligent Buildings

Over the past few of years building owners and operators have become more aware of the benefits that can be achieved by leveraging existing or proposed IP networks to deliver greater access and flexibility to traditional building management systems and tools.

Our business was started as a consultancy, working on a broad range of technical and commercial IT business solutions. Our background provides a global perspective of any project delivery. This makes us, we believe, almost unique in the marketplace. Installation

All of our products are installed by either our own staff, or where appropriate one of pre-approved sub contractors. The management elements of all projects are always carried out by our own team members. You will receive a single point of contact for all elements of your project from start to finish. This approach ensures greater continuity and a fuller understanding of your needs and challenges.

Support & Maintenance

Whatever level of support you and your team require we can tailor a solution to fit. We can offer simple telephone support packages through to fully managed hardware replacement and engineering fixed price packages for all the products and services we provide.

A single helpdesk number will give you access to our internal team and in turn our third party suppliers.

For some time Riviera Networks have been providing turnkey installation and support services to the property industry in particular. We understand that most buildings have little or no IT expertise on site, and with the increased complexity of IT systems and their role in the operation of a building, the ability to self diagnose issues before a support call is raised is limited.

To this end Riviera Networks have developed a portfolio of support services to encompass the entire end to end IT and communications needs of building management teams

Sole Supplier Solutions

Our portfolio of products allows us to deliver every single aspect of an IT or building solution. This breadth of experience allows our clients to benefit from a simplified supply chain and consistency across disciplines.   As a sole IT supplier we will provide a primary interface for you to all your IT & Communications suppliers.

For example we can novate your existing BT phone line contracts to ourselves therefore removing the need for you to deal with a complex range of bills each quarter. We take these charges and present them, either monthly, quarterly or annually in a format we agree with you, this greatly reduces your administration time and the number of incidences of disconnection.

Each of the services supplied by ourselves is itemised and all costs associated are presented on a single invoice, vastly reducing the admin time required to process these services when compared to a more traditional multi vendor arrangement. This makes your budgeting and cost analysis for IT systems much simpler and more manageable.

As a sole supplier our ability to manage your support services is greatly improved. Aside from admin and budgeting there is a significant advantage with the ability to place a single call to report issues with any element your IT services. We can carry out first line diagnosis remotely in most cases followed by an engineering visit if required. Where necessary we can escalate to third party suppliers such as BT and liaise until a resolution is made.

If for example a user reports that they cannot log on to the Internet there are a number of elements that could cause this fault:

Clearly for an end user to diagnose where the fault lies before calling the relevant party is not practical. With our Sole Supplier model a single call to our staff initiates full diagnosis and resolution with no further intervention from the end user required.

Comms Room Design

Critical for the reliable operation of any business, these rooms are often designed by M&E consultants with traditional views and approaches. Our in depth understanding of the environment and the equipment within allows us to design room solutions to suit specific requirements. Cooling, power protection and use of space are usually the key design focus for comms rooms.  With our partners such as APC we a have suite of products to not only maximise the efficiency of the space available but also to reduce the utility running costs associated with it.

To maintain comms room temperatures the traditional approach is to deliver cooled air at a sufficient volume and temperature. We approach this challenge by looking at heat removal rather than cooling provision, this approach drastically reduces the amount of power required to maintain a stable environment, our most recent project involved 54 server racks, and initial results show a 10% reduction in plant power consumption.

Our latest initiative is to offer an LED lighting solution for comms rooms powered entirely by the IT equipment already running within the room, making these spaces effectively free to light. Full IP control is available of these systems from any desktop on the network, as well as traditional controls such as motion sensing. A small step towards greener buildings perhaps, but we believe that it is better to start small than not start at all.

"During 2008, Sanctuary Housing Association initiated a project to replace the existing Server Room with a purpose built, leading edge Data Centre.  Conscious of the need to develop a scalable yet efficient environment, the APC InfraStruXure platform was selected as the ideal solution to provide the organisation with the Data Centre it required.

To help plan and develop the new Data Centre, Riviera Networks was selected and working with Paul Randall a design was agreed by the working group and built to the specification.  Paul was invaluable in helping make key decisions regarding the solution, providing expertise in APC technology and designing the overall specification.  The new Data Centre has been very successful, delivering on all the original requirements and allowing the IT infrastructure to grow as the business grows.

One of the key elements of the new Data Centre was to focus on the carbon footprint and reduce this as much as possible.  This has been successfully achieved by extracting the heat produced in the Data Centre and using it to heat the two buildings on the campus, negating the need to use the conventional boilers during the winter months".

Additional Revenue Schemes

Designed for building owners and managers, these solutions and commercial models are intended to provide opportunities to generate additional revenue and improve interest and early occupation of vacant office space. In addition these solutions can often improve occupier retention where lease breaks occur. Costs can be presented as a cost psft to occupiers which helps them easily establish their real cost of occupancy.

High Speed Building Internet Service

Usually provided at our risk and no cost to the landlord, an optional service to all incoming tenants with minimal lead time, and a revenue return to the landlord based on service profit. All sales effort required to secure a client is offered by ourselves.

Telephony

Optional tailored packages for incoming tenants offered on a zero capital basis, fully managed including lines and maintenance, our costs are recovered via a monthly rental, ideally suited to tenants requiring rapid occupation or short term leases. Completely remote service packages can also be offered.

Demise comms room design and build

By understanding the tenants requirement and the landlords restrictions this process can be much simplified, in addition many fit out or M&E contractors fail to appreciate the finer points of comms room design from an IT perspective, we can add significant value to this.

Demise Sub Floor Services

All tenants without exception will provide a sub floor small power infrastructure and IT structured cabling, we offer a full design and delivery package offered on a zero capital basis to the incoming tenant. Costs are recovered via a rental arrangement which could either be wrapped into the building service charge or charged directly by ourselves with a % return offered to the landlord. The life expectancy of these systems is often far greater than the majority of other building systems, guaranteeing a long term return to the landlord. We have successfully delivered this product to entire buildings in advance of occupation for customers such as LandSecurities, costs are recovered via an additional accommodation charge.

Wireless Guest Internet Services

As part of the enabling package, we could deliver free to air internet to the reception area for visitors. In larger receptions and buildings this could be tariff based to offer some return. ( albeit minimal )

Costs are tailored to each building based on the landlords level of commitment to the concept, size , shape, tenant profile and certain pre-delivery design elements we need to carry out.
